The Iberian house was a place of refuge and rest, but it was also a store and a place of work. The wide variety of household equipment included looms, rotating hand mills for making flour and a large number of pottery vessels. Amphorae and pitchers were used for storing water, wine, oil and salted goods. There was also an extensive range of jars, cups, pots and plates for preparing and serving food. The houses were rectangular and were arranged in streets. They often had attics or floors with a number of rooms. The hearths were a source of heat and were also used for cooking.
